LCCT Support Building design exercise for KLAS expansion to cater for KLIA 2, a terminal for low cost carriers. This building expansion consists of engineering building, temporary cargo area and catering building. It is located at the presently KLIA 2 site which is under construction. The KLIA 2 scheduled to complete in 2013, which can cater for up to 45 million passengers annually and the extension to KLIA which can cater to 25 million annual passengers.
The approach is to allow for quick construction and to match the design concept of KLIA 2. The construction method is mainly to use structural steel and metal roof. Strong graphics were imposed to create strong identity to these buildings. The utilitarian approach used for the design of the building was to enable cost control and can be identified as support buildings.
