Redevelopment Of Old Bintulu Airport

The mixed development is based on the redevelopment of old Bintulu Airport. The project consists of six parcels from A to F. Phase One development includes three blocks of condominium, a total 675 units on Parcel A on a 4.5 acre land plot and Parcel B Commercial Boulevard of shop offices and 5 Star Hotel with over 300 rooms on a 4.8 acres land plot. Parcel C and D were assigned for educational development projects whilst Parcel E and F were proposed for a specialist hospital with 200 beds as well as a self sufficient development.

The architectural concept is to have an iconic building that reflects the progression of Bintulu from a fishing village to the industrial town that it is at present. The ‘cocoon’ symbolizes the transformation from this “pupa” stage to a highly developed modern high-tech-city. The development incorporated the features for a ‘green city within a city’.
