The Johor Skills Development Hub was conceptualised as a sustainable platform for developing skilled human capital for the region and country, particularly for the fast developing state of Johor, to fuel the economic activities and employment demands that it will generate.

The plan is to develop a one-stop hub to nurture industry talent through structured training pathways, leading to eventual job placement.

One of the keys to the success of this hub is the creation of an academic community, thus enable the industry players to inter-mingle and synergise in a mutually beneficial and sustainable manner. Reliance on recreation and other needs outside of the hub has also been minimised.

Objectives
The integrated Johor Skills Development Hub was mooted to:
a) Complement the academic and higher education hubs located in Iskandar and Pagoh in making Johor the generator and source of human capital and talent for the country and region.

b) Create an integrated eco-system for the industry, training providers, (Technical Vocational Education and Training [TVET] Colleges & training centres) and students to study, work and play.

c) Provide educational and training opportunities to young Malaysians and the workforce, particularly those from the state of Johor to acquire industry relevant skills and internationally recognised certification.

d) Engage the industry players in Johor and surrounding region for the purpose of academic and skills input, and most importantly provide a sustainable source of talent and skills for them.

e) Further the objective of the State Government of Johor and the Government of Malaysia to support the industry and state economy by providing land, grants and creating policies that are investor friendly to bolster economic growth.
