One of the Malaysia’s conglomerates, DRB Hicom, had planned for a new headquarters building, next to their existing headquarters in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, Selangor. The proposed high-rise building will exhibit the position and establishment of the company as one of the Malaysia’s key players in various sectors from automotive, services and the property, asset and construction.
Hence, the proposed designs would express this ethos and corporate image of the client. ATSA Architects has produced a main design proposal of the building, with the additional five more options with the inclusion of many facilities and spaces required by the client. Nonetheless, each proposed design has been designed underlying the same design goals, with the sustainability approach.
Sustainability being the key design approach, various aspects and factors have been taken into the considerations in formulating the proposed designs. Utilising the site strength, location and connectivity, many green design strategies have been applied from the building orientation, materials, green technology and services.
Based on the preliminary designs, the building has been targeted to achieve a Gold rating under the Green Building Index (GBI) but ATSA Architects has also proposed the smart compactor storage system and modular concept for the office planning layout to maximize spatial efficiency. Besides the office spaces, other facilities also been included, among others, are the office and sales gallery, customer service area, cafeteria and recreational, centralise meeting room, penthouse and car park bays.
