One of the world largest chain retailer, Carrefour has called for a design of a large 32,000 square meter hypermarket building comprising of a superstore and a shopping mall all under one roof. The building sits on a 6.2 acre site, strategically located at the intersection of Persiaran Mahogany and Jalan Kenyalang of Seksyen 11, in Kota Damansara Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The site is accessible via PLUS and LDP expressway via various municipal roads to Persiaran Mahogani.
The building comprises of various areas and spaces to meet it's specific functions and maximizing efficiency as required by the client, Carrefour. Taking advantage of the corner lot site with it's curved facade makes the building's main entrance and it's signage visible from a distance.
The two storey building embraces 2 floors with an added mezzanine floor. The ground floor level is designed to cater to an extensive area of covered car park which can accommodate up to 630 lots of carpark bays. The main shopping mall, hypermarket and storage areas are located on the first floor, linked by a travelator from the ground floor shopping mall.
A modern minimalist style is adopted on the Façade to reflect a ‘millenium theme’ which translated together with Carrefour‘s new grey corporate colour. Concurrent to the client's interest, Value Engineering Design Practice was also diligently pursued to minimize the building and maintenance cost.
